Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with former mentor Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
